Open 24 Hours

This photograph is from a series titled "22:00 to 06:00". The interest for this project came as a result of my love for night photography. When I was out photographing at night I began to notice certain places were open all night. I though it was interesting that these places needed to be open all night. To me it seemed to me it seemed like more money was being lost than made during the graveyard shift. I also wondered what kinds of people visited these places during the hours of 12 and 6 am.

I photographed a Denny's, 7-Eleven, Jack in the Box, Yum Yum Donuts and 76 gas station. After I photographed these places, I went and talked to some of the employees at the locations. I found out that most of the employees were more than willing to talk to me. I wondered if the response would have been the same if I had gone during the day. I asked if a lot of people visited and was told that quite a few people did. I was also told that most of the people who went to these places after 2 am were usually people who had just gotten out of a bar or club and wanted something to eat or needed to get gas. They also had to occasional traveler stop in for a last minute snack or fill up.

I found this project to be quite interesting, I met some interesting people and learned a few things along the way. I know that this is something that I will come back to in the future and I am looking forward to it.
